From the mountains of Nariño, we are honoured to introduce our first coffee from Raquel Lasso's Finca La Bohemia. More than just a farm, La Bohemia is a "meeting place"—a hub for sharing knowledge, culture, and dreams; a philosophy that infuses every aspect of Raquel's life. She works to continues the legacy her parents started, with her family being the first to cultivate Arabica coffee in San Pedro de Catargo.

This Bourbon Sutil microlot - named such by Raquel due to its diminutive size and “subtle” flavour profile - is uniquely cultivated by the Lasso family. Produced with extreme care, by women "filled with love and tenderness", this is a coffee with a deep, human connection to its origin and a delicious refined, floral and crisp flavour profile. We couldn't be more proud to welcome Raquel Lasso to the Dukes producer family with this coffee.

"We understand that the only way to preserve life on the planet is
not only by conserving the environment but by improving it."
— Raquel Lasso

In the high-altitude mountains of San Pedro de Cartago, Nariño, a region celebrated for its exceptional coffees, Raquel Lasso is cultivating a legacy that is as much about connection and philosophy as it is about coffee. Her farm, Finca La Bohemia, is not just a plot of land; it is a "meeting place," a space where knowledge, culture, aspirations, and dreams are shared. This bohemian spirit, rooted in a deep respect for both people and the planet, infuses every coffee bean that leaves the farm.

Raquel is a second-generation coffee producer, carrying forward a pioneering family heritage. Her parents were the first to cultivate Arabica coffee in the San Pedro de Catargo area, establishing a tradition that Raquel and the Lasso clan have elevated to new heights. They understood from the beginning that coffee was more than a commodity; it was a way of life that connected them to the earth. Building on this foundation, Raquel transitioned the farm to fully organic practices in 2017, driven by a profound understanding that the only way to secure a future is to actively improve the environment. For her, confronting climate change starts from the ground up by regenerating the soil, which she passionately describes as "the foundation of life."

This philosophy translates into an artisanal and deeply intentional approach to production. The connection to nature at La Bohemia is palpable; Raquel speaks of connecting with the coffee trees and giving thanks to the earth. The harvest itself is a special process, carried out by women "filled with love and tenderness," embedding a human touch into the very heart of the coffee.

This unique combination of a regenerative farming ethos and meticulous care has not gone unnoticed. Raquel Lasso’s commitment to quality was validated on the world stage when she placed 3rd in the prestigious 2022 Colombia Cup of Excellence competition. This remarkable achievement cemented her reputation as a producer of world-class coffee, proving that a philosophy rooted in soil health, community, and love can produce extraordinary results in the cup.
