Dida Hora Washing Station is a private washing station and cherry collection point located in the small community of Dida Hora Burka, in Uraga Woreda, Guji. Owned and operated by our long standing partner Tesfaye Bekele, owner of Suke Quto farm in Shakisso, Dida Hora serves as a buying point and washing station for Tesfaye's outgrower producers in Uraga and surrounds.

The Uraga area is well known as an appellation of exceptional quality. Renowned for producing extremely homogenous Kurume variety lots with a refined and crisp flavour profile, the high altitudes throughout Uraga provide ideal growing conditions for smallholder organic coffee production.

Tesfaye purchased the Dida Hora washing station in 2021 to provide access to the 350 organic outgrowers in an otherwise isolated region from the main Odo Shakiso town. At Dida Hora, Tesfaye exclusively produces washed processed coffees, and we are thrilled to feature this delightful microlot from the 2024-25 season.

Owner of the Dida Hora Washing Station, Tesfaye Bekele, is somewhat of a pioneer of the Guji region. He was the first in his community to initiate coffee growing, by creating a seedling nursery on a small plot of land he reserved. He was motivated to show that preserving Guji's forest was an all encompassing investment for the Guji people. Today, almost all the coffee farms in Guji were inspired by Tesfaye's Suke Quto farm.

Today, Tesfaye works with hundreds of producers throughout the Guji zone - particularly in the communities surrounding the Shakiso, Kumure and Uraga villages - to process and export their coffee. 100% of the coffee that Tesfaye handles is Organic, and produced in traditional garden coffee or semi-forested smallholder farms. We have worked with Tesfaye as one of our key Ethiopian partners since 2010, and are glad to continue this relationship into its 14th year!
